4 Trains: Scenes from Signaling Arcana at ACT
4 Trains: Scenes from Signaling Arcana Unique and rare performance experience! Showing scenes in development from our month long residency at ACT. Featuring large-scale cinematic shadow theater, 3D stereoscopic effects (you will be given viewers) and live original musical composition.
Set in the American wilderness as 19th century industrialization looms, this expressionist story explores the theme of the railroad as it relates to the destruction of the environment and the imagination.

Doors will open on the hour. Show will begin 15 minutes in, no late seating.
1119 Market Street at the ACT Costume Shop Theater. Parking $2/hr in Stevenson alley garage directly behind with access from 7th St. Please arrive only 10 minutes before each show. We will open doors on the hour. Pre or post show feel free to enjoy at drink at Mr. Smiths on 7th street and we'll join you there after Wednesday and Thursdays show. Note- Market St. and 7th is home to a colorful array of San Franciscans who you may or may not want to spend too long engaging with... :) At the Civic Center BART stop. Proceeds go to paying performers and building lights, tracking system and 3D opera glasses for the premiere.
An ensemble featuring Kate Charlotte Hodges, Alex Lydon, Sonia Decker, Risa Lenore , Nickolas Strubbe and Zena Konjo was brought together for this residency.

Christine Marie is a director, artist and inventor. She studied Wayang Kulit traditional shadow puppetry in Bali and is a former 10 year member of ShadowLight theater. Christine Marie received an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts in Integrated Media and Theater. She lectures and conducts workshops for theater companies, film studios, universities and schools. She has taught shadow animation at Pixar and consulted for the film, "Me and My Shadow," for DreamWorks studios. Christine Marie is a 2012 TED Fellow and a member of the Intersection for the Arts Innovation Studio. She also directs, designs and edits for film and video design.

Dan Cantrell performs and writes music of all kinds featuring his main instruments, the accordion, piano and musical saw. In recent years his attention has been focused on the study of music from Eastern Europe as well as composing for film, dance, and theater. He can be heard on albums and on tour with Tom Waits, Joanna Newsom, Frank London, and the San Francisco Symphony. Dan has written and recorded the score for 3 seasons of the animated television series Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, on Cartoon Network. He has received an Emmy award for composition for the documentary "Divided Loyalties" on PBS; and the Gerbode Grant for "The Rootabaga Opera."
