LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure): a Modern Approach to Periodontal Therapy
Presented by: Marc L. Nevins, DMD, MMSc
Laser Periodontal Surgical Therapy is a sophisticated multi-step surgical treatment for periodontal; disease. It is a patient-friendly approach to treatment that aggressively treats the disease with minimal patient discomfort. It is an alternative to conventional surgical procedures such as pocket reduction, GTR, and bone grafting regenerative techniques.
LANAP therapy is well documented minimally invasive surgical therapy. This course will present clinical and research experience and evaluation of LANAP protocol. Dr. Marc L. Nevins will present his experience in private periodontal practice incorporating the LANAP protocol into the periodontal surgical armamentarium. He will also present indications and contraindications for LANAP therapy and periodontal case management. Dr. Nevins will discuss and contrast LANAP protocol with traditional regenerative and pocket reduction surgical procedures. Data will be presented from his recent human histologic research with the LANAP protocol supporting the biology of the periodontal wound healing process.
Marc L. Nevins, DMD, MMSc serves as the Co-Editor of the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and is in the private practice of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry in Boston, Massachusetts. He is Assistant Clinical Professor of Oral Medicine, Infection and Immunity at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Nevins graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and he received his Certificate for Graduate Training in Periodontology and a Master of Medical Sciences in Oral Biology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Nevins has research interests in Clinical Applications of Tissue Engineering for Regenerative Periodontics and Implant Dentistry.
