Beginner Rueda de Casino with Amanda in Cambridge
Come try an introductory workshop of an invigorating Cuban circle social dance called Rueda de Casino. On Saturday December 8th, Amanda Gill (former instructor for Masacote Dance School) will offer a beginner Rueda de Casino dance class at Cambridge Co-Housing studio in Porter Square. The class consists of a warm-up in Cuban Styling for Salsa, and then casino turn patterns to use in couple dancing and in the Rueda (wheel).

About Amanda Gill: Amanda is President and Artistic Director of DC Casineros dance company (www.dccasineros.org), based in Washington, DC. Amanda has been teaching and performing Cuban Salsa since 2005. Amanda recently taught and performed in Nicaragua at the national Salsa Congress with her dance partner Adrian Valdivia. She has trained with dance masters Aramis Pazos and Oscar Rousseaux and trained in dance at the Instructors Arts School in Havana, Cuba in 2004.
Amanda travels periodically to Santiago to train with Cutumba in Haitian dance and with Yanek Revilla in Casino styling. She founded DC Casineros dance company in 2005. They dance the roots of Cuban Salsa and perform popular and religious dances, including Son, Rumba, Yoruba, and Congo/Fon-based traditions. Amanda is a Registered Dance Therapist, and currently works on creating dance therapy methods that utilize social dance as a means to heal.
