In this class, you will learn the skills to make your own handspun yarn. Suspended (drop) spindles have been used for nearly 30,000 years and remain the most durable, portable, and reliable tools for spinning fiber into yarn. You will try a variety of fiber preparations for spinning. We will discuss the health benefits of a spinning practice, as well as how to ply and soak your finished yarn.
Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine or cider!
About the instructor: Sara has been devoted to the fiber arts for seven years. She has completed the Sheep to Shawl course at Fiber Craft Studio in Chestnut Ridge, NY -- a fiber arts training center affiliated with the Waldorf School. Sara practices daily spinning meditation and is currently pursuing mindful educator certification.
