Speaking Ring Theatre Company presents The Diviners by Jim Leonard, Jr.
SRTs Seventh Season concludes with the beautifully dramatic and noble story "The Diviners" by Jim Leonard, Jr.
"The Diviners" is a depression-era fable that takes place during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s in rural Indiana. It is a beautiful story about the friendship that evolves between a former priest trying to escape his past and a touched boy who can divine (find) water but fears it more than anything. By the end of the play, each of the eleven characters finds themselves in a place where they have to face their fears and accept that tragedy can strike even when you think you're doing the right thing. "The Diviners" teaches us that experiencing divinity is not about what you have or do for work in this life. Its about how you love and what you do to help those around you.
The production was directed by ensemble member Emily Korff. The cast includes SRT Ensemble members Joseph Adamczak and Erin Orr and guest artists Aubrey Brown, Dave Urlakis, Josh Sumner, Laurence Bryan, Mary Mikva, Cara Cusano, Holly Harper, Mike Simmer and Nathaniel Niemi. Mercedes Rohlfs (co-producer), Erin Rooney (co-producer) Graham Moriarty (scenic designer), Steve Besic (lighting designer), Iris Bainum-Houle (costume designer), Keely Haddad-Null (stage manager), Joe Griffin (sound designer) and Steve Baldwin (co-Sound Designer) round out the production team.
