"Spike Heels" written by Theresa Rebeck
"Spike Heels" will be performed at the American Theatre of Actors (314 W 54th Street, New York, NY 10019) on the second floor in the Beckmann Theater. The show runs for 12 performances between May 11th and May 26th. Show dates and times are listed below.
Theresa Rebeck uses a four-sided love triangle as the foundation for her play "Spike Heels." Georgie, a former waitress, grew up with an unstable family life in the Bronx. Until one day she decides to get out of her toxic environment and move up to Boston where she meets Andrew. Andrew teaches political philosophy at a University. Despite how different Georgie and Andrew are, they start to form a very strong bond. The third side to this triangle is Edward- Andrew's best friend- who is also a Defense Attorney. He hires Georgie as his secretary based on Andrew's recommendation. And then there is Lydia- Andrew's fiancee- who is very suspicious of Andrew and Georgie's "friendship." In "Spike Heels," Rebeck uses her crafty and often hilarious writing style to delve into issues like sexual harassment and the implications of societal classism. Most importantly, she distinguishes four complicated characters, each in the depths of their own turmoil, as they explore this complicated web of relations.
This production will be directed by Jay D. Brock and will feature Joanna Pinto, Zach Shinske, Andrew Pagliara, and Marie Dinolan in their Off-Broadway debut!
