Nettles Artists Collective is seeking creative women to be part of an embroidery, paint and collage group created by artist Montserrat Vargas.
Motivated by #theghostlightproject campaign that seeks "to create brave spaces that serve as lights in the coming years, we decided to actively listen and create a platform for the values that this campaign brought to the surface: collective action, activism and community commitment.
If you have already explored or want to explore any of these three techniques, we will be meeting every Tuesday from 6pm to 9pm at Punto Space located at 325 West 38th Street, New York NY 10018 from January 31st through March 7th.
Every participant will have an opportunity to showcase their work at our first Nettles Salon Series, which embraces the spirit of the 17th century French salon gatherings which aim to inspire, provoke and engage through conversation. The first 2017 Salon happens March 8th in celebration of International Women's Day.
For more information please email: email@example.com
We speak Spanish, Portuguese and English and welcome everyone in our multi-cultural realm.
There is a $25/person per three hours session which will cover space rental expenses, social media marketing for the salon exhibition, basic materials to start the work, coffee, mate and tea.
If you have any specific materials you would like to work with please bring it on the first day of class. Other than that, bring your creativity and we will take care of the rest.
