Reading, Writing and Carbon Reductions: A Sustainable Schools Speakers Series
This FREE event is part three of a three-part series discussing concrete ways that Oregon's K-12 schools can reduce their climate impact and move toward sustainability.
Topic: Dave Cone of the Gresham-Barlow school District will discuss methods for achieving energy efficiency in school buildings.
Dave has been in the facilities management industry for 28 years, the last 9 with the Gresham-Barlow School District. Dave spearheaded the district's utility management program beginning in late 1998. It has resulted in avoided costs of over 6 million dollars, and subsequently, has kept over 11 million pounds of CO2 out of the atmosphere. Currently Dave is the president of the Oregon Association of Professional Energy Managers, a non-profit educational organization consisting primarily of energy engineers, utility company administrators and program managers, and resource conservation managers.
This event is sponsored by the Sustainable Oregon Schools Initiative (SOSI) and PSU's Community Development Student Group (CDSG).
