Chris Hayes with Larry Wilmore
"When was the last time you called the cops?"  So begins MSNBC's Chris Hayes, whose new book, A Colony in a Nation, draws the reader smack into the national discussion of law and order. And into the heart of the more painful discussion of race and the police in America.  Perfect timing for a book on race and law and order, as we plunge into the Trump Era. Chris Hayes, host of the nightly news show, All In on MSNBC, gets to the root of police violence against members of the black community, and he does it with understanding for all concerned.  Guns are everywhere, and everyone-- police and civilians alike-- is afraid. White fear and black fear-- a potent cocktail for violence.  Between fear of crime and the fear of being shot, American cities are feeling the heat of racial tension and anger. Enforcing the law-- and maintaining or restoring order-- shouldn't be a deadly experience for cops and young black men. And Chris Hayes addresses this issue with lessons from history and his own observations and experience, told in his conversational and brilliantly accessible way.

Larry Wilmore has been talking about this very issue for years, and we all listened.  He talked about it as Senior Black Correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.  And of course he talked about it on his own great show, as he moved from The Daily Show to The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. Spinning the most important issues facing our country in a humorous, but deeply serious fashion, Larry is the executive producer of Black-ish, and is a writer and producer of Insecure.  He was also the host of the 2016 White House Correspondents' Dinner.
