CARINO: Economy of the Heart by Anne Bluethenthal and Dancers
Project Artaud Theater San Francisco, CA
Carino: Economy of the Heart. Conceived and choreographed by Anne Bluethenthal, this world premiere explores in movement, text, music and visual art, the cultural and global dimensions of caring. The empowered, earthy, and passionate choreography that is the trademark of the woman-centered ABD ensemble, blends with the complex, sensual music of Ajayi Jackson; the impassioned voices and lyrics of internationally-acclaimed singer Melanie DeMore and Mexican-American funk singer Mama CoAtl; the alluring poetry of LGBT /queer activist and cultural icon Judy Grahn, and the vibrant art of muralist Nadine Gay.
