ONE WORLD ENDS, ANOTHER BEGINS: AUTUMN TALES AT TOLAY CREEK RANCH
ONE WORLD ENDS, ANOTHER BEGINS: AUTUMN TALES AT TOLAY CREEK RANCH
Sunday November 13th, 2016
10:00am to 2:00pm

Abundant wildlife and views stretching from the Petaluma River to Mount Diablo make Tolay Creek Ranch an exceptional place.  Equal to its natural beauty is Tolays rich human history, which spans at least 8,000 years.  Join historical ecologist and storyteller Arthur Dawson for an autumn ramble across space and time. Well hear old stories about how the world began on top of Sonoma Mountain, catch a glimpse of Tolay as it was just before 19th-century settlement, and recount how that world ended and the one we know today began.

The 1665-acre Tolay Creek Ranch is owned by Sonoma Land Trust, with a conservation easement held by Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District. It protects a habitat corridor which stretches from the foothills of Sonoma Mountain to the wetlands of San Pablo Bay. Tolay Creek Ranch includes two and a half miles of Tolay Creek, and will soon be added to the adjacent Tolay Lake Regional Park.

This outing is provided by the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space (District), and through a partnership among Sonoma Land Trust, the District, and Sonoma Ecology Center. There is no cost for this outing, thanks to the voters of Sonoma County who fund Sonoma County Agricultural and Open Space Districts work with a quarter cent sales tax.

Difficulty level of this walk is moderate. We will cross flat and hilly grasslands with uneven footing and climb a long  incline to reach the top of the ridge.

REGISTER TODAY! Reservations are required online by 5pm on Friday, November 11th.
Directions and day-of contact information will be emailed upon registration.
