Jonah in the Whale's Belly + My Father from Neverland
JONAH IN THE WHALE'S BELLY (JONASZ W BRZUCHU LEWIATANA) DOCUMENTARY 2015, 55 min, Poland Polish with English subtitles dir. KRZYSZTOF WIERZBICKI
The film is a documentary portrait of Jonasz Kofta, a brilliant poet and insightful commentator of the reality of communist Poland. Through the camera lens of Krzysztof Wierzbicki, an assistant to Krzysztof Kielowski, Kofta becomes an eminent representative of his generation who embodies the strife for freedom and unrestrained expression. The need of liberty was ingrained not only in his songs but also anecdotes and stories about the social life of the intellectual elites.
MY FATHER FROM NEVERLAND (MÓJ OJCIEC STA) DOCUMENTARY 2015, 50 min, Poland Polish with English subtitles dir. ANDRZEJ DUDZINSKI
The film is a portrait of one of the most interesting Polish authors, Stanisaw or Sta Dygat. Recollections of Magda Dygat (his daughter, the script author and a writer herself) and writer Janusz Gowacki, archival photos, videos and interviews are intertwined with the excerpts of feature films with Dygats script and contributions of other authors, literary critics and family and friends, performed as if they were a theatre play. Dygats monologues make a commentary on the entire story.
