| Description |
NOTE: This screening of The Band's Visit is sold out. However, please plan to enjoy it at the Camera 7 Theater in the Pruneyard Shopping Center beginning February 18. Discount coupon available.
To mark the San Jose Jewish Film Festival's transition to its new name, "The Silicon Valley Jewish Film Festival," a special screening at a special price has been arranged for the community. "The Band's Visit" ("Bikurret haTizmorret") is the recipient of numerous prestigious film awards.
The Alexandria Ceremonial Police Orchestra arrives in Israel to play at the opening of an Arab Cultural Center. The band arrives at the airport with no one there to greet them. Stranded and unable to contact their Israeli hosts for help, a band member asks for directions, struggling in Arabic, English and Hebrew. Despite his best efforts, the band is sent to the outskirts of a small forgotten Israeli town in the desert. "The Band's Visit" was the recipient of the "Un Cerrtain Regard--Jury Coup de Coeur" of the Cannes Film Festival, the official selection for 2007 to the Toronto International Film Festival, and the the official selection for 2007 to the Telluride International Film Festival.
