Readings from "A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer"
Please join V-Day Philadelphia 2008 on Thursday, February 14 - Valentine's Day and the 10th Anniversary of V-Day - for selected readings from V-Day's newest book, "A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer" at 6pm at The Ethical Society Building, 1906 South Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia, Pa 19106.
A unique collection of monologues by world-renowned authors and playwrights, these words were presented to a crowd of thousands at the first UNTIL THE VIOLENCE STOPS festival in New York City in June 2006. Edited by award-winning playwright Eve Ensler and Mollie Doyle, "A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer" was published in May 2007. Beyond the time constraints of five minutes or less, and the theme of women and violence, each monologue was for the writer to realize. No constraints, restrictions or rules. A fantasy of a world where there is no violence. A poem about the physics of a slap. A memory. This book, beautifully, and sometimes tragically, offers to all of our imaginations the impact violence against women and girls has on our families, our friends, ourselves and our community.
So that we may envision a time when love no longer hurts, on this Valentine's Day, and on the 10th anniversary of V-Day (V, after all, stands for Victory, Valentine and Vagina), please join us for selected readings from this powerful book.
Readings - $10.00 Reading and Book ("A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer")- $15.00
