HIGHCHAIR KINGS

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Trevor Lettman grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin listening to an eclectic mix of artists like Frank Zappa, The Band and whatever his hippie aunt brought over. At age 10 his cousin bought him a Realistic tape recorder and a cassette of Elton Johns Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboys within a week he had written his first song. By age 12 he had rewired the tape recorder so the erase head could be switched off, allowing for overdubs of additional vocal and guitar parts. Thus began a lifelong obsession with songwriting and recording.

In the 80s METAL happened, and so did Lettmans first band at age 14. Then punk and new-wave. Then post-punk. Influences were cemented, including an unending devotion to The Smiths and The Cure. While attending recording school in 1986, Trevor picked up The Replacements album Tim and was enamored by the the songwriting and the sound of the guitars. This music somehow defied definition. You felt it as much as heard it.

Lettman moved to Minneapolis in 1987, lured by the local music scene and the bustle of activity around Uptown. The first week in town he answered an ad in the City Pages, and the very next day found himself in a rehearsal space standing next Bobby Stinson, whose wife Carleen had placed the ad. Bobbys guitar was the loudest, most beautiful thing he had ever heard, and the impact of that would come to haunt his songwriting.

Various bands came and went over the years, with the most notable being The Lyndales - an Americana group featuring bassist Jared Hedberg. In 2001 Lettman met his future wife, an Australia musician, and started a long-distance relationship of epic proportions. Music was put on the back burner, and remained there for nearly a decade.

In 2010, Hedberg and Lettman paired up with local legend Peter Anderson on drums, and began recording demos under the name Highchair Kings. Horribly out of practice and suffering from writers block, demos remained unfinished while Lettman struggled to write lyrics and define the bands sound. Big guitars were key, as were Hedbergs well crafted bass lines. But even after enlisting the help of Ed Ackerson at Flowers Studio, final mixes sat unreleased for years. Songs were recorded, then shelved. Others were remixed.

After a soul-searching trip to Australia in late 2015, Lettman came back committed to release the album. Two more songs were recorded to balance things out, and after five years of writing and recording Highchair Kings released their self-titled 8-song debut in June of this year.

The current band is rounded out by guitarist Rob Wales, whose playing can be heard on the opening number Soundtrack off the debut EP. Highchair Kings are currently working furiously on their sophomore effort, produced by José Ayerve of SPOUSE. Not to fall into the same trap, this one has a firm release date of Sept. 20, 2016.

ENOLA FALL

Instrumentation that swells from delicate to triumphant as verse comes to chorus.
Energetic drums and a jangling, resonant guitar give the refrain
a light tropical flavor without ever feeling like a novelty.
Death And Taxes

First off: Enola Fall is from Tasmania, and that is awesome. Second: The band is really good.
Huffington Post

With two full-lengths and three EPs under its belt, Enola Fall is one of the most determined music acts to come out of Tasmania, relentlessly recording and touring throughout Australia, Europe and the U.S. This drive has led to the group sharing stages with the likes of Amanda Palmer, The Violent Femmes, and The Jezabels, as well as appearances at NYCs CMJ Music Marathon and Australias The Falls Festival.

Enola Fall will be returning to the States for a string of performances this fall, with tour dates to be announced shortly.
