Laia Montserrat
An international virtuoso violinist described by the German critics as Passionate and intense in Bonn General-Anzeiger Newspaper by Mrs. Oschmann.
Laia made her Carnegie Hall, New York debut at the age of 14, she is winner of numerous first prizes in Paris, Italy, London, New York, Luxembourg, Romania and Spain. Maestro Abbado said with Laia the violin speaks.
Her forthcoming recital is at St James's Piccadilly on 21 January at 19.30. The programme includes a wide selection of the most beautiful works written for violin and piano. It will include Carmen Fantasy from Concerto Op. 25 based by Bizet's Opera, arranged by Pabro de Sarasate, Tchaikovsky Canzonetta from the Concerto in D major Op. 35, Legenda Op. 17 by Henryk Wieniawski, Thais Meditation by Jules Massenet, Brahms Allegro from the Sonata No. 3 for violin and piano, 6 Romanian Dances by Bela Bartok and the romantic Romance No 2 Op 25 by Henryk Wieniawski.
Laia was born in Barcelona and started her violin studies when she was five years old. She won her first international competition at the age of 8, and moved to Germany to study at the High Performance Bonn Prodigious Children School. At the age of 11, playing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto, Laia became 1st prize winner in the Jeunesses Musicals of Soller, and the jury members were so impressed after her performance that they decided toincrease the prize. Laia finished her violin studies in London from 2011 - 2013. She performs regularly concerts in the United States, Germany, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Croatia, Spain, Romania, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria etc.
