Once found only on the most elegant tables, in the 20th century gelatin became a popular food for both stylish dinners and economizing mothers. Discover its colorful history! Come for a campy contest and stay for a visual feast.

Jo Weldon is the headmistress of The New York School of Burlesque, the author of The Burlesque Handbook, and the author of the upcoming Fierce: The History of Leopard Print. She revels in pop culture ephemera and in revealing the tantalizing origins of things we take for granted.
