1776 The Musical Atlanta
1776 is a delightful musical account of the creation and signing of the Declaration of Independence by representatives of the 13 original colonies. The 21 character musical play with 19 men and 2 women will be just in time for the Presidential Elections of 2012! These men had been sent there as representatives of their various 13 colonies to strategize on how to protect themselves and their families from the blunders of the hated King George III of far-off England. How could they possibly construct and agree upon a document - a most powerful document - THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE??
The Musical "1776" that answers this question. Leading the cast of 22 are Robert Wayne as Benjamin Franklin, Don Smith as Thomas Jefferson, and David Parlier as John Adams. "1776" is written by Peter Stone with lyrics and music by Sherman Edwards. The cast is directed by Sandra Ellenburg-Dorsey, veteran director, teacher, actress. Dorsey says, "I am thrilled to have a part in presenting this most beloved (and historically correct) musical --- and it's just in time for the elections! This play proves that the Declaration's inception is so much more than a glorious accident - I'm continually awed by its magnificence."
