Welcome to the 3nd Annual National Encuentro Milonguero Berkeley 2017! at the Finnish Hall, 1970 Chestnut Street, Berkeley, CA 94704. (Located in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area -- just 12 miles from SF; 24 miles from SFO airport, and 16 miles from OAK airport) takes place on the last weekend in January 27-29 (Friday,  Saturday and Sunday). Note: If you have been invited by Jonathan y Olivia, or attended the Santa Fe, Port Townsend, Salida Colorado, Seattle Encuentro or Alburquerque Milonguero Encuentros, you are invited to purchase passes to Encuentro Milonguero Berkeley.

Encuentro Milonguero Berkeley is an event hosted by milonguero style dancers for milonguero style dancers* who mindfully maintain good navigational skills and the codigos of tango. We welcome Attendees to enjoy three days of dancing, dining and bonding over traditional golden era tango music DJed by some of the best DJs in the nation.

Includes five milongas, three dinners, desserts with coffee and tea each day, lounge with hors d'oveures, with wine and Pelligrino served throughout the weekend.

Note to New Attendees -- Encuentro MIlonguero Berkeley is an invitational event seeking skilled *milonguero style" dancers accomplished with the following skills:
1) Mastery of one's own axis
2) Ability to track accurately partner's axis - no pulling off axes
3) One's dance having moved beyond focus on figures to focus on musical expression
4) Ability to navigate in tight milongas
5) Experience and working knowledge of the codes
6) Ease with all general vocabulary in both parallel and crossed system
5) Ability to stay connected to partner throughout the dance in a comfortable embrace
6) Awareness and experience with the internal energetics of this style.


LOCAL TRANSIT: Bay Area Transit System (BART) is very convenient and provides transportation from The Finnish Hall to both SFO and Oakland Int'l Airports. BART stops conveniently (at the North Berkeley BART station) a 10 minute walk to the Finnish Hall where the Encuentro will be held. The Muni Transit system throughout the Bay Area is also quite efficient. You may want to Google 511.org, which provides detailed trip information on all modes of transport in the SF Bay Area. You can also call 511 and receive estimated driving times between destinations, based on real-time traffic flow.

Encuentro Milonguero Berkeley supports the mission of Siempremilonguero.org which seeks to preserve and promote the culture, philosophy, and dance form of traditional social tango developed throughout the Golden Age of Argentine Tango (1935-1952) that is still danced in the tango salons of Argentina today.
