8:25-9:10 Minimal Pruning in Wine Grapes Leif Olsen of Olsen Brothers Ranches will discuss their experience (costs, quality, and feasibility) farming minimally pruned Riesling.
9:10-9:40 Canopy Management Equipment Demonstration Grant DeVries of VineTech will demonstrate some of the latest machinery available for vineyards to help with canopy management.
9:40-10:15 Drive to Red Mountain Hedges Family Estate Address: Vineyard off of Antinori Road, east of Sunset Road
10:15-10:45 Field Grafting John Gomez, Vineyard Manager of Hedges Family Estate will discuss his experience with field grafting and variety change-overs.
10:45-11:00 Walk to Kiona Winery (Block 2, NE of Ciel du Cheval, South of Hedges)
11:00-11:20 Deep Irrigation Dr. Pete Jacoby, Washington State University, will discuss his recent research on sub-surface irrigation strategies and plant response.
11:20-12:00 Sensing Technology in Vineyards 1)Russ Smithyman- Ste. Michelle Wine Estates NDVI in vineyard management. 2)Lav Khot Washington State University Aerial and ground sensing in agriculture production (with demonstrations).
