Talk Socialism Comedy Fundraiser
The comedy evening will be held on Friday 29th July at the fantastic Cumberland Arms where there is loads of lovely beer and a friendly atmosphere. Doors will open at 7:30 for an 8:30 start.
We will have a superb comedy line up: -The Suggestibles -Hal Branson -John Whales -Catherine Scott -Mickey Cochrane The purpose of this event is to raise money for Talk Socialisms involvement in A World Transformed. "Before we can build a better world, we first have to imagine it. The challenge of 21st century socialism is to create a positive vision of what we want, not a negative vision of what we oppose. The World Transformed is about setting the agenda." A World Transformed is a festival of ideas that is taking place for the duration of the Labour Conference. It will be based at the Black-E in Liverpool City Centre which has a rich heritage in community activism. The festival is being organised by a network of socialist political education groups, including Talk Socialism. Talk Socialism will be holding workshops, along with a wide variety of other events such as talks, discussions, comedy, music ... all sorts of exciting stuff! Anyone in Liverpool at the time of the Labour Conference is welcome to come along. Closer to the time well share with you the programme of events. If you cant make it to Liverpool, still come along to this fun evening, and everyone is of course welcome to come along to our regular Talk Socialism Reading Group and Workshop. The next Workshop is 7pm Monday 27th June @ Broadacre House and the next Reading Group is 7pm Thursday 14th July at Alphabetti Theatre.
For those that haven't come across Talk Socialism yet, we are a discussion group with a purpose: To change the framework in which millions of people think about political questions. To that end, we are building a group of people who want to go out into the Labour Party, the wider Labour movement, into community groups, into public forums online, comments sites, at work, at uni everywhere and argue for socialist policies.
Meetings are run as participatory workshops where we can pool our collective talents & persuasive abilities. At the moment we are only based in Newcastle upon Tyne. For more information see our Facebook Page.
