"8" The Play
American Foundation for Equal Rights and
Broadway Impact's
"8"
by
Dustin Lance Black

Take a peek inside the trial of Perry v. Schwarzenegger, the federal court case for marriage for gay and lesbian Americans.

"8 is the real-life story of Kris & Sandy and Paul & Jeff, two loving couples who want to get married but can't. Together with attorneys David Boies and Ted Olson and a host of expert witnesses, they take aim at Proposition 8, a discriminatory law that took away the right for LGBT couples to marry in California in 2008.

Written by Academy Award-winner Dustin Lance Black (Milk, J. Edgar), "8 is based on the actual words of the Perry trial transcripts, first-hand observations of the courtroom drama and interviews with the plaintiffs and their families.

As "8 flashes in and out of the Perry court, watch both sides present the best evidence, arguments and witnesses for and against marriage for gay and lesbian Americans. See how the case affects the plaintiffs and their kids, and, following the performance, learn how you too can become involved in the fight for equal rights.

The Ringwald Theatre presents a staged reading of this new play for one night only.

Ticket sales and donations will benefit the American Foundation for Equal Rights, the organizational sponsor of the federal lawsuit for marriage equality. An optional community talk-back will follow the reading.

There are no refunds or exchanges once tickets have been purchased.

Please contact the Ringwald if you have any questions or concerns at 248-545-5545.

All purchased tickets MUST be picked up by 5 minutes to showtime.

Although a date may be SOLD OUT online, there is a small block of RUSH TICKETS available at the box office 45 minutes before each show.

Online ticket sales end two hours before performance time. If you'd like tickets after the cut-off, simply come to the box office which opens 45 minutes before showtime.
