Mortal Tongues, Immortal Stories OPEN REHEARSAL
Kala Vandanam is pleased to welcome Washington D.C. based Dakshina / Daniel Phoenix Singh Dance Company to the Twin Cities for the first time.
Join us for an OPEN REHEARSAL of their newest work Mortal Tongues, Immortal Stories, a multi-media dance project that bears witness and celebrates the lives of poets and artists lost to AIDS. Based on the anthology Persistent Voices: Poetry by Writers Lost to AIDS, this evening length brings together spoken word artists, dancers, and stunning visual designs in short vignettes that create an imaginary world inspired by the poems. Poets Gowri Koneswaran and Chris August, Visual Muralist Adrian Galvin join choreographer Daniel Singh and his dance company to bring an evocative dance poetry work to life. For more information about Dakshina, visit www.dakshina.org.
Open rehearsal is hosted by Kala Vandanam - please join us for some light refreshments and discussion after the rehearsal.
