Danny Gurwin & Friends Celebrate Broadway Concert
Area HS and College performers hit the stage with these terrific NY performers.
DEBBIE PRUTSMAN - Debbie is well-known to musical theatre audiences from L.A. to San Diego and all points between. She is known for her soaring vocal prowess, and the eclectic characters she creates. Her most recent roles include The Chaperone in "Drowsy Chaperone" at the Candlelight Pavilion, Grizabella in "Cats" at both Candlelight and Moonlight Amphitheater, La Carlotta in "Phantom," for Performance Riverside (Ovation nomination) Downey CLO, and Moonlight, Mrs. Lovett in "Sweeney Todd" at Musical Theater West, Performance Riverside, and Broadway at the Gardens, and Carmen Bernstein in "Curtains" at Performance Riverside. Other favorite roles include Hesione in "Triumph of Love" (Starlight Amphitheater and Performance Riverside), Dolly Levi in "Hello Dolly," (Moonlight and Performance Riverside) the Witch in "Into the Woods," (too many places to mention!) and Momma Rose in "Gypsy. " A particular favorite of Ms. Prutsman's was playing Madame Thernardier in "Les Miserables" at the Moonlight Amphitheater, because it was there she met and worked with the talented Mr. Danny Gurwin.
DANNY GURWIN - LA credits include Henrik in the Los Angeles Opera's A Little Night Music, Papa Who in How the Grinch Stole Christmas at the Pantages, starring roles in MTW's Little Shop of Horrors and Cats, I Left My Heart for the Laguna Playhouse, and Jean Valjean in Les Miserables at the Moonlight. On Broadway, Danny has co-starred in Little Women, Urinetown, The Full Monty, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and Kismet (Encores!). Off-Broadway, he has been seen in Shakespeare's R & J, Forbidden Broadway, A New Brain, The Thing About Men, The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, and many others. Danny is also a renowned teacher and director, including guest artist residencies at The University of Michigan, UCLA, Clarke College in Iowa, Youngstown University in Ohio, both the Orange County and Las Vegas High Schools of the Arts, as well as workshops & camps at The Segerstrom Ctr. in Costa Mesa & Making it on Broadway LA. Regional: Ragtime(Coalhouse Walker Jr.) Film: Emmy Award Winning NBC Miniseries, The Temptations(Eddie Kendricks), All About You(Brian). Most recently Terron co-starred on NBC's Up All Night. Two time NAACP Award nominee for supporting actor. Mr. Brooks has performed with David Foster, Josh Groban, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, and Michael Jackson to name a few. He has toured with Phil Collins and Matthew Morrison from GLEE, opening for the New Kids On The Block/Backstreet Boys Tour. As a guest artist with the Atlanta, Colorado, and Taiwan Symphonies, Terron has sung the classic songs of Disney. His new Cd "Contagious" will be released late Spring.
DEVEN MAY - Kicked off the First National Tour of Jersey Boys and Won critical acclaim in the title role of Bat Boy, earning a Theatre World Award for Outstanding New York Debut, as well as Drama Desk and Lucile Lortel Award nominations. Originated the role with the Actors' Gang in L.A. and won the 1998 Ovation Award for Best Lead Actor in a Musical. In 2004-2005, he took Bat Boy to the U.K., performing at London's Shaftesbury Theater. Other credits: Johnny Nolan in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (Goodspeed). Television: Oz, Days of Our Lives. ALET TAYLOR - was last seen in God of Carnage (Annette) at ICT. Los Angeles: Carly in Having It All at Noho Arts Center (Ovation Nominee Best Actress), Nightmare Alley at the Geffen, Adelaide in Guys and Dolls at Cabrillo Music Theatre. Vegas: The Producers at the Paris (Hold-me/Touch-me). NY: First National Tour The Producers (Lick-me/Bite-me), L'il Abner, Sweet Adeline, One Touch of Venus, The Boys From Syracuse, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Alet is a Musical Theatre teacher at AMDA, a Zumba Instructor, married to Andy Taylor, mother of Dash, Lucy, and Ruby, and pursuing her Masters in Child Psychology from National University.
