Planet Hospice
This is a play about global climate collapse and the real threat of near-term extinction for our species and perhaps all of Earth's creatures. Dr. James Light, an expert on evolution and biology, has evolved his university lecture into a clown show in order to make the information understandable and to ease the emotional pain. Cashiered from his teaching position because of his message, he's tried to make the message more palatable through use of comedy. He reminds us that we all understand that we will die someday. He asks for us to envision a kinder and more compassionate world as we descend into Planet Hospice.
Brooklyn Culture Jam is an ad-hoc group begun during the days of the Occupy Wall Street protests in order to share ideas about a better world, It is an outgrowth of some 20 years of playmaking by its founder Dan Kinch, whose work has toured the US and Europe. Mr. Kinch's play A CLOWN, A HAMMER, A BOMB, AND GOD has been performed over 200 times since its premiere at the first NYC Fringe Festival, and his Occupy Wall Street play HOW TO STOP THE EMPIRE WHILE KEEPING YOUR DAY JOB has been viewed over 12,000 times on You Tube.
