Transforming black-&-white neorealism into multicolored rhythm and energy, Director Theodoros Bafaloukos not only revolutionizes reggae in this Jamaican cult classic, he also foreshadows the present-day docu-drama. Many legendary artists play themselves, including Gregory Isaacs, Big Youth and Burning Spear, their music leading a blood-pumping soundtrack from Island Records. Drawing inspiration from Vittorio de Sica's Bicycle Thieves, Bafaloukos cooks up something that could only have originated on the streets of Kingston. This stunning restoration was recreated from the original negative and expertly re-captures the films rich color palette. (In English and Jamaican Patois with subtitles.)
