Caught up in the patriotic fever shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor many Nisei, or second generation Japanese Americans volunteer to fight for their country. Although the United States views them with deep suspicion, this is a journey they undertake with deep respect for family and country. During their evolution from raw recruits to combat veterans they learn about courage and honor, to be part of a team, and the tragic reality of war. Ironically, while liberating people from places like Dachau, many had family incarcerated in American "relocation centers" such as Minidoka, Gila River, and Tule Lake. Join storyteller, Alton Takiyama-Chung, and musician, Mike Van Liew, as they weave the tales of these men, who fought against the enemy and prejudice with courage and distinction, leaving behind a rich legacy of honor for future generations.
