THE VIEW FROM HERE

FROM THE FOLKS WHO BROUGHT YOU JOAN OF ARC:

Nautilus continues its series of studio productions with a staging of THE VIEW FROM HERE, a new music-theater piece by composer/lyricist Timothy Huang.

THE VIEW FROM HERE starts off as the amusing story of a young writer's misadventures as he tries to get his first novel published. Before long, however, words and music combine to reveal a more complex tale, as fear and grief are transformed into courage and redemption.

New York critics said "this one-man musical is propelled by stunning music -- masterful character-driven songs and comedic set pieces -- a haunting melodic quality that seems torn from the annals of the great American songbook -- funny and poignant, exhilarating and tragic -- effortlessly moving and openhanded -- (Huang is) a composer that we should be hearing a lot more from."

This production features Nautilus singer-actor Joel Liestman. He is supported musically by music director/pianist Jerry Rubino, with Jim TenBensel on trumpet. THE VIEW FROM HERE is staged by Nautilus' artistic director Ben Krywosz, with lighting design by Michael Wangen, stage management by Conrad Burgess, and technical direction by Jon Hegge.

All performances will be presented in Nautilus loft studio, with very limited seating -- only 38 seats per performance are available. Get your tickets today and don't miss this exciting Midwest premiere -- experience intimate music-theater guaranteed to confound your expectations of what a "musical" should be!

THE VIEW FROM HERE received its World Premiere at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in September of 2005. Music and lyrics are by Timothy Huang; the book by Timothy Huang in collaboration with Elizabeth Lucas.
