Founded in 2006, the Social Justice Symposium is a FREE student-organized community event. Attendees can attend workshops as diverse as community organizing, alternative educational practices and direct action planning.
Though originally created by graduate social work students from UC Berkeley who wanted to infuse their program with principles of resistance and equity, the Social Justice Symposium has since evolved to a large community gathering that draws hundreds of people every year.
This year, the conference is being held 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in North Berkeley.
