Liss Fain Dance: The Water is Clear and Still
The Water is Clear and Still, a performance installation, combines the visceral energy of dance with the text of Jamaica Kincaid's sharp-edged and beautiful short stories. Using the entire 60-foot depth of the theater, the set and immersive sound environment surround the performers and the audience. The audience, moving at will inside the set and close to the performers, is an integral part of the piece. Non-narrative, highly physical and emotionally resonant, Liss Fain's work fuses modern dance's forceful energy with the kinetic precision of ballet. Artistic collaborators: Matthew Antaky, set and lighting design; Val Sinckler, actor;Dan Wool, commissioned score; Mary Domenico, costumes.
