Opera Parallele presents the world premiere of composer-in-residence Chris Pratorius' new children's opera, Amazing Grace. Based on the book by Mary Hoffman, with a libretto by OP Creative Director Brian Staufenbiel and Educational Programs Director Roma Olvera, Amazing Grace tells the tale of a little girl whose love of stories helps her persevere in the face of adversity and makes her own dreams come true.
4th and 5th Grade students from St. Martin de Porres Catholic school will perform alongside professional singers, Yemonja Stanley as Grace, Jasmine Johnson as Nana, and Joe Meyers as Paw Paw the cat. Conducted by David Gordon and directed by Krista Wigle and presented with Opera Parallele style, this production is not to be missed.
