Mid South Grand Slam Final
On Saturday, April 14th at 7:00p at Tennessee State University's Poag Auditorium, the region's top youth poets, emcees, and spoken word artists will compete for top lyrical honors at the Mid South Grand Slam Final. The event will determine which teens represent the region in the San Francisco Bay Area this summer at the Brave New Voices spoken word poetry festival.
New this year, semifinal slams were added in Williamson County and Shelby County to increase access to the event for youth in different parts of the state. Finalists from Rutherford, Williamson, and Davidson Counties have already been selected. College-age poets will compete for a place on the finals stage on Friday, March 30th at Fisk University at 8p in the Appleton Room. On Friday, April 6th at 7:00p, Memphis high school and college age writers will have a chance to earn their spot in the finals. The Memphis event takes place at the HUB Lounge at 515 E.H.
