The "Festival of Cheese" Comes to Raleigh!
The American Cheese Society will host its annual Festival of Cheese in Raleigh, NC this summer!
One of the biggest and most comprehensive events of its kind, the Festival of Cheese boasts some 1,600+ artisan, farmstead, and specialty cheeses and cultured products from throughout North America for attendees to sample.
The Festival of Cheese is the culmination of the American Cheese Society's Annual Conference & Competition, and has taken place annually in different cities since 1985. Amazing growth in artisan cheese production and consumer interest in farm-to-table products has fueled the growth of the ACS Competition to include 1,676 cheeses in 2011 - which means many more incredible cheeses for attendees to sample at the Festival of Cheese!
Open to the public, the 2012 Festival of Cheese in Raleigh will feature the cheeses (1,600+) entered in the 2012 ACS Competition, highlighting winners and recognizing their mastery of cheesemaking. In addition to an amazing array of cheeses, the Festival of Cheese features artisan producers and local purveyors of cheese accompaniments from crackers, charcuterie, preserves, and honeys, to wine and craft beer that guests can sample in their commemorative take-away wine glass.
Just a few of the specialty foods you can sample alongside the many cheeses at the event are:
-Craft beer from Rogue Ales -Cured meats from Creminelli Fine Meats and Olli Salumeria -Honey from Savannah Bee Company -Bacon spread from Skillet Food Products -Chutney from Virginia Chutney Company -Crispbread from 34 Degrees -Crackers from La Panzanella -Cheese Sticks from John Wm. Macy's Cheese Sticks
The Festival of Cheese is open to the general public on Saturday, August 4 from 7:00 - 9:30 p.m. at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, NC.
Tickets are available for $55/person and include unlimited food and beverage samples. A cash bar will also be available.
