For nearly 10 years, "Fake Radio" has been presenting its comedic take on classic radio shows from "The Golden Age" of radio. Our unique blend of original broadcast scripts along with unexpected improvised dialogue has been delighting audiences and critics for years.

Join us for the continuation of our 2012 season with one of the great radio plays from the 1940's, "The Thin Man"!

The Thin Man
Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture in 1934, The Thin Man is a comic detective story by Dashiell Hammett starring William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles, a flirtatious married couple who banter wittily as they solve crimes. Nick is a hard-drinking retired detective and Nora a wealthy heiress. The film was so popular, it was re-written for the radio and originally broadcast in 1936 as part of the Lux Radio Theatre. As they were both so popular in the film release, William Powell & Myrna Loy were both invited by Lux Radio to reprise their roles in the radio adapation!

Nick Charles (Powell), a retired detective, and his wife Nora (Loy) are attempting to settle down when he's pulled back into service by a friend's disappearance and possible involvement in a murder. The friend, Clyde Wynant (Ellis) (the eponymous "thin man"), has mysteriously vanished just after his former girlfriend, Julia Wolf, was found dead. Wynant quickly becomes the prime suspect, but his daughter Dorothy (O'Sullivan) can't believe he did it. She convinces Nick to take the case much to the amusement of his socialite wife. The detective stumbles off to find clues, and manages to piece things together through intensive investigation.
