The Films of Laura Amelia Guzmán and Israel Cárdenas
Although husband and wife team Laura Amelia Guzmán and Israel Cárdenas are relatively new to filmmaking, their first two features have made waves on the international festival circuit. Their debut feature Cochochi won the Discovery Award at the Toronto Film Festival in 2007, and their latest Jean Gentil received a special Jury mention at the Venice Film Festival. Since their success with their own features, they've begun producing work with other emerging filmmakers in the region. Northwest Film Forum welcomes these two rising stars in Latin American cinema to our theatres, where we'll screen both features as well as Ocaso, an Argentine feature which the couple produced.
