Kitchens with a View and Cooking Too!
KITCHENS WITH A VIEW AND COOKING TOO! PREVIEW/COCKTAIL PARTY (May 18 2012), LUNCH AND TOUR (May 19 2012) A Tour as Unique and Original as Sausalito itself!
The SWC Preservation Society is a non-profit organization raising funds to preserve our nearly 100-year-old building designed in 1918 by California's first licensed woman architect, the amazing Julia Morgan. Kitchens with a View and Cooking, Too is a kitchen tour through kitchens and gardens on one of the most prestigious streets in Sausalito, Marin County. This spectacular two-day celebration May 18 and 19 of cooking, food, and wine, is in tribute to the "Home Chef."
FRIDAY ~ MAY 18 2012 The Preview Party will be FRIDAY, the 18th of May at the Club at 120 Central Avenue and features stellar finger food, a no-host bar, 'live' smooth jazz, and a fabulous Raffle and Silent Auction featuring serious culinary equipment, food and wine experiences from around the Bay Area and the Wine Country, Restaurant Gift Certificates, and a number of surprise features to be announced soon.
SATURDAY HOME TOUR ~ MAY 19 2012 Not your average "Mc Mansions" kitchen tour," participants will visit private Sausalito kitchens grand and "galley" that have views of San Francisco Bay and are all devoted to the needs and desires of food lovers who revel in cooking at home. The tour starts at the Sausalito Woman's Club where a program with a map becomes your entrance ticket. A "Food & Wine Tasting Tent" is located in a stunning garden along the walkable route. The Talking Tent will feature a rotating group of presenters and chefs including: Tanya Booth from Mill Valley's Spanish Table store revealing secrets to Spanish cuisine; Diane Worthington sharing her favorites crostinis, "Cooking Perfect Pasta at Home" by Chef Clare Molla from Williams Sonoma, Steve Yafa's Food Pairing with Pinot Noir, Jaxon Fagan on Fat of the Land Gardens, Composting Talk from Marin Soil, Everything you want to know about Chickens and coops, Gray Water Sustainability, Bonnie Bee's talk on Beekeeping and pollinator plants, Alison Harris' Integrating Organic Edible Plants in existing landscapes, and Shannon Baker on how to cook for a crowd and MORE!! SATURDAY BUFFET LUNCH ~ MAY 19 2012 11am-3pm Before or after your tour of kitchens, a reserved buffet lunch will be served between 11 and 3 with time for browsing culinary silent auction items and sampling the no-host bar.
Parking is on the East side of #101 at the Spencer Ave exit, downtown by Ferry Landing and at Sausalito City Hall. Free shuttles will run all day to the locations (Spencer, Ferry Landing and City Hall).
