White
Deadfall Dance presents "White: dances about time, space and change" at the BU Dance Theatre March 30 &31st at 8pm.  White is a culmination of work choreographed by director Judith Wombwell in conjunction with the dancers.
The anchor of the show is the premiere of "White."  In the summer of 2011, these dancers worked with Wombwell and director Stephen Wicks to create a Dance for the Camera which is currently in post-production.  "White" takes the material from this project and reconstitutes it for the stage.  The choreography, inspired by the natural world, is woven and looped into a continuous flow of ever changing but familiar patterns.  The dancers are at once grounded and in a continuous fall and we are left with the feeling that this cycle will repeat.  The dance is accompanied by visual artist Lorna Bieber's "Winter Trees", also a work of ever changing and looping scale.
The company will perform its full-length version of "Grass" for the first time in the Boston.  Inspired by Walt Whitman's "A Child said: What is the Grass?" This 30 min piece uses elegant lines of choreography, a simple box motif, and a collaged soundscape to take the viewer on an emotional journey.  The closing section of "Grass" was developed through the Shared Choreographer's program at the Dance Complex in Cambridge and was also performed as part of Danny McCusker's ThisThat series.
The program will include the choreographer's signature work about change titled "Shed", first performed in 2002, this dance has had several different casts, but for this performance Wombwell will perform with her daughter Natalie Wombwell.  "Shed" will be linked to another new work "Beauty" which premiered as a work in progress at the Mills Gallery as part of the Movement at the Mills series.  This solo work danced by Tabitha Liversidge celebrates the beauty of an individual versus a brand.
