Craft Beer & 'Terroir' The Taste of the Place
oin two of the country's top experts for this engaging presentation! Star brewer, Bill Covaleski of Victory Brewing Co. and wine author and Daily News columnist, Marnie Old will bring VIP guests a fascinating discussion on the controversial question of whether the source of beer ingredients significantly alter a beer's flavor. The concept of 'terroir,' a distinctive regional aromatic profile, has been embraced by the sustainable food and organic farming communities with respect to vegetables and fruits, cheeses and meats. Is it time to consider the terroir of our lagers and ales as well? Ultra Exclusive Interactive Tasting with Victory Brewing Company
Victory Brewing Company continues to drill down on the delicious science of its Braumeister Pils series in which a single variety of whole flower hop is spotlighted in each subsequent brew. This year, the brewery has created an amazing array of 5 specific brews featuring the noble German Tettnanger hop, each brewed from a single field within the region of Tettnang (about half the size of Chester County,) for the ultimate discovery of terroir on a micro level. Two of these highly-exclusive pilsners, made with 'single-farm' hops from Strass and Reitzplatz, destined to be blended for distribution as Braumeister Pils 2012, will be presented side by side by brewmaster Bill Covaleski in a tasting experience impossible to replicate outside the brewery. Additionally, VIPs will be able to sample a work-in-progress barrel of Victory Otto Ale, a Belgian dubbel brewed with a portion of beechwood smoked rauch malts, currently aging in oak barrels once used to age American bourbon. A full selection of flagship Victory brews will also be available for sampling.
