The Brewer's Plate VIP Experience
"The Farmer and the Artisan"

Cheers to our region's farmers, brewers and chefs  they are true artists that paint vivid pictures of our region's abundant and diverse food system.  This year, the Brewer's Plate VIP Experience will illustrate how each craftsman takes simple raw ingredients and turns them into edible masterpieces.  The nuances of terroir, the simple elegance of cooking with beer, and much more will be explored at interactive tasting stations and star-studded demonstrations  all designed to stimulate the senses!

Cooking Demonstration with Chef José Garces
Cooking with Beer  A Spectrum of Flavors.

Join Philadelphia's own Iron Chef as he demonstrates how to boost flavor and add complexity to home-cooked meals by using craft beer in a variety of techniques. Armed with some potent brews from Victory Brewing Company - like pale, seductive Golden Monkey and dark, mysterious Baltic Thunder Porter  Chef Garces will illustrate how to take your recipes from ho-hum to holy-cow!  This cooking demonstration will be followed by a sampling of each dish, along with several other culinary delights from the Garces Restaurant Group.

Craft Beer & 'Terroir'  The Taste of the Place

oin two of the country's top experts for this engaging presentation! Star brewer, Bill Covaleski of Victory Brewing Co. and wine author and Daily News columnist, Marnie Old will bring VIP guests a fascinating discussion on the controversial question of whether the source of beer ingredients significantly alter a beer's flavor. The concept of 'terroir,' a distinctive regional aromatic profile, has been embraced by the sustainable food and organic farming communities with respect to vegetables and fruits, cheeses and meats.  Is it time to consider the terroir of our lagers and ales as well?
Ultra Exclusive Interactive Tasting with Victory Brewing Company

Victory Brewing Company continues to drill down on the delicious science of its Braumeister Pils series in which a single variety of whole flower hop is spotlighted in each subsequent brew.  This year, the brewery has created an amazing array of 5 specific brews featuring the noble German Tettnanger hop, each brewed from a single field within the region of Tettnang (about half the size of Chester County,) for the ultimate discovery of terroir on a micro level. Two of these highly-exclusive pilsners, made with 'single-farm' hops from Strass and Reitzplatz, destined to be blended for distribution as Braumeister Pils 2012, will be presented side by side by brewmaster Bill Covaleski in a tasting experience impossible to replicate outside the brewery.  Additionally, VIPs will be able to sample a work-in-progress barrel of Victory Otto Ale, a Belgian dubbel brewed with a portion of beechwood smoked rauch malts, currently aging in oak barrels once used to age American bourbon.  A full selection of flagship Victory brews will also be available for sampling.

But wait, there's more!  Other vendors in VIP include:
The Bent Spoon, Birchrun Hills Farm, Bobolink Dairy, Choptank Oyster Company, Doe Run Dairy, Farm Fromage, Fork Restaurant, John & Kira's, North Mountain Pastures, Suburashi Kudumono, and Zone 7!
