This is the first show I can call my own here in Portland. Mayo Street Arts is a cozy, reverberant converted church and a great place for an unplugged show. They also have some good beers. Sammie Francis -- friend, troubadour, teacher -- will be opening up the show.

About Birches Lo:

Recorded with master engineer/producer Jonathan Wyman on that random snowy Saturday in October, Birches Lo is a bare-bones, live EP. I'm psyched with how it turned out and I can't wait for the release show: Friday, February 10 at Mayo Street Arts.

All profits from Birches Lo go to Chewonki, a Maine non-profit that offers a range of programs designed to foster an appreciation for the natural world and for working in community with others. When I first moved to Maine in 2005, my first few days were spent exploring Chewonki. I was and continue to be impressed and inspired by the work that goes on there. Natural spaces play a key role in the songs of Birches Lo, so I wanted those songs to play some role in the exploration and appreciation of natural spaces. So at this point, "all profits" means between $3 and $4 from every CD sale goes straight to Chewonki.
