99 Homes: Movie Screening Benefitting MHNW
As a part of Broad Green Pictures' 99 Homes: 99 Good Deeds charitable initiative, Mercy Housing Northwest is hosting a special advance screening of the film "99 Homes", starring Andrew Garfield and Michael Shannon on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 8:00 pm at the SIFF Cinema Uptown in Seattle, WA. Proceeds from the screening will benefit Mercy Housing Northwest.

Mercy Housing Northwest (MHNW)is a nonprofit whose mission is to build affordable homes for low-income families. Moviegoers can view the film before it hits theatres nationwide in October and help raise money for low-income residents living at MHNW. 100% of ticket sales benefit MHNW's Emergency Rental Assistance Fund for residents at risk of losing their housing.

99 HOMES: In this timely thriller, charismatic and ruthless businessman, Rick Carver (Academy nominee Michael Shannon), is making a killing by repossessing homes - gaming the real estate market, Wall Street banks and the US government. When he evicts Dennis Nash (Golden Globe nominee Andrew Garfield), a single father trying to care for his mother (Academy Award nominee Laura Dern) and young son (newcomer Noah Lomax), Nash becomes so desperate to provide for his family that he goes to work for Carver  the very man who evicted him in the first place. Carver promises Nash a way to regain his home and earn security for his family, but slyly seduces him into a lifestyle of wealth and glamour.  It is a deal-with-the-devil that comes with an increasingly high cost - on Carver's orders, Nash must evict families from their homes. As Nash falls deeper into Carver's web, he finds his situation grows more brutal and dangerous than he ever imagined.

Broad Green Pictures 99 Homes touches on issues faced by families affected by the housing crisis including homelessness and a lack of resources.  To shed light on the situation,  Broad Green Pictures has created "99 Homes: 99 Good Deeds," a unique charitable initiative to help those with the various issues surrounding homelessness. The program is meant to underscore the positive impact that even the smallest amounts of assistance can have; encouraging individuals to perform one good deed to help a member of their community. The program kicks off on September 9 (9/9), with benefit screenings of 99 Homes across the country. Proceeds from the screenings will go to local homeless organizations.
