Max Apple - The Jew of Home Depot and Other Stories
Jewish Community Center Houston, TX
Welcome back to Houston, Max! A Rice University professor in the 70's, Max Apple is best known for his two collections of short stories, THE ORANGING OF AMERICA and FREE AGENTS, and two non-fiction books, ROOMMATES and I LOVE GOOTIE. His newest work, THE JEW OF HOME DEPOT AND OTHER STORIES, is his first collection to appear in twenty years, chock-full of his trademark humor. Funny, heartbreaking, and wise by turns, and on occasion all three at once, his thirteen new stories are marvelous. According to NEWSDAY, "Apple may not be as well known a humorist as Russell Baker, Calvin Trillin, or Garrison Keillor, but he should be. He belongs in the same crowd." Apple lives near Philadelphia and teaches at the University of Pennsylvania.
