Linda Austin Dance: circus me around
Performance Works NorthWest/Linda Austin Dance is pleased to announce the premiere of circus me around at a new site: a spacious warehouse at 640 SE Stark, in the Central Eastside. As we begin in mid-October to assemble the set, you are welcome to visit and check out our progress!
Conceived and directed by Linda Austin, circus me around is inspired by the zings of pleasure and pricklings of curiosity aroused by fleeting and partial views of activities in the city landscape. For this multi-disciplinary work, architects Ean Eldred, Richard Garfield, John Kashiwabara and Peter Nylen create an environment assembled of skeletal scafflolding and a translucent shrink wrap skin, yielding various vantage points for the viewing of three simultaneous dances amid the clattering, dripping, clicking, whooping, and fluttering of Seth Nehil's spatialized sound score. Costumes are by David Rafn, Linda Austin and the performers. The set and bodies are enhanced by the lighting wizardry of Jeff Forbes.
PWnw/LAD is proud to be working with the following performers, all of whom are collaborating on the creation of their own movement material for the work:
Anne Furfey, Esther LaPointe, Paige McKinney & Katrina O'Brien
Gregg Bielemeier, Cydney Wilkes, Jenn Gierada & Woolly Mammoth Comes to Dinner (Kathleen Keogh, David Rafn, Rikki Rothenberg)
Margretta Hansen, Noelle Stiles (Oct, 26-28) & Linda K. Johnson (Nov. 1-3)
