The Furniture Series
The Furniture Series is a collaborative Dance performance created and produced by the Tacoma Dance Collective, choreographed by Robin Jaecklein, Artistic Director. Inspired by an over-sized rocking chair on Tacoma's 6th Ave, this evening contains thirteen dances each central to a piece of furniture found in her home. Works include "Couch", "Bed", "Chair", "Curtain", "Table" and more. Dancers include Robin Jennings Jaecklein, Joel Myers, Hannah Crowley, Mary Tuttle, Danny Boulet, Faith Stevens and students from the Tacoma School of the Arts. All dances are set to original music composed by Jamie Alls, Paul Eliot, Colin Reynolds, Ruth Taylor and others. Included in this evening's event is a gallery of "Vases" provided by visual artists Terri Placentia and Jimmy Gosselin. There is also original photography by Virginia Bunker. With costumes designed by Lisa Fruichantie, lighting by Kelly Doran and sets by Jim Jaecklein, this evening contains something for the entire family. This work was made possible in part by a grant from the Tacoma Arts Commission through their 2009-2010 Tacoma Artist Initiative Program. Come support these Tacoma artists in this collaborative evening of dance and entertainment.
