KATSURA Kan Butoh Workshop
KATSURA Kan, will explore the idea of the"curious body" through group observation of daily life as a source for BUTOH movement ideas. He will instruct how to "awake your noise" " focus on the other side of your reality" through his experiences of the significant elements of BUTOH. Kan will explore a new cognitive approach of body with "Chanel Works" through the practical method of Kan's BUTOH NOTATION . The workshop is suitable for everyone with and without previous BUTOH experience.
KATSURA Kan, a native of Kyoto, is a Master Butoh artist from among the ranks of Japan's senior generation with 30 years of experience performing, teaching and choreographing throughout the world. KATSURA Kan has studied with Butoh Founder, Noh Master of Kongoh School and Ben SUHARUTO in Jokjakarta of Indonesian Living National Treasure. KATSURA Kan's workshops center around the idea of "Butoh choreography" which is still a big question since 1959 in Japan, as Butoh is looking for "your own dance." Kan's approach is his original Butoh Notation and one of philosophy in Buddhism, teaching from "Noble Eight-Fold Path."
