A fantastic story inspired by an Israeli novel (When Heroes Fly by Amir Gutfreund, 2008) and a handful of colorful yet true characters, Israeli director Avi Nesher's feature weaves together stories of coming-of-age and coming to terms with the horrors of the Holocaust in the northern city of Haifa of the late 1960s. Summer romance in Haifa, adventures, coming-of-age, tensions between sabras and Holocaust survivors, fantasy and reality, matchmakers and dwarfs are brought together in this fascinating feature.
