Linda Neale Workshop: 20th Annual Women of Wisdom Conference
The Power of Ceremony ~ Restoring the Sacred in Our Lives
Develop a closer relationship to Earth, Spirit, and our fellow human beings through discovering ceremony. Using seven principles from "The Power of Ceremony: Restoring the Sacred in Our Selves, Our Families, Our Communities," Listening, Intention, Preparation, Structure, Symbols, Prayer, and the Unexpected, you can begin building your own personal or family ceremony based on your particular spiritual orientation. Three basic types of ceremony -- healing, transition, and celebration -- are reviewed, as is the concept of "liminality". We will write, sing, and drum as we create ceremony.
Linda Neale, LMFT, LPC is a writer, and a licensed marriage and family therapist who is married to a Native elder and has participated in native ceremonies for over 30 years. In 1991 she founded the Earth & Spirit Council, a nonprofit educational organization in Portland, Oregon. Her recent book, The Power of Ceremony: Restoring the Sacred in Our Selves, Our Families, Our Communities, was published in April, 2011, by Eagle Spirit Press. Linda integrates ceremony into her therapeutic work and has dedicated her life to helping people develop ceremonies that heal feelings of separation in modern society. Linda's extensive ceremonial work overlaps the circles of deep ecology, Native American spiritual traditions, women's spirituality, and depth psychology. She has helped develop many community ceremonies, including The Women of the 14th Moon, Honoring Our Ancestors, and the Women's Medicine Wheel. www.lindaneale.com
