Skill Level Description
Below are descriptions of three skill levels, please choose the one that best describes your skill level:

Beginner:  You can perform skating basics on flat track such as propelling yourself on quad skates, stopping and falling safely.  You have been skating for at least 6 months and have little or no scrimmaging experience.  You have some knowledge of roller derby rules and strategy.

Intermediate:  You have been skating for at least 6 months to over a year and have mastered basic skating skills such as crossovers and stops.  You can do transitions and some backwards skating and are ready to progress to more advanced skills and strategies.  You know the rules and have more knowledge and understanding of roller derby strategy than a novice.  You have scrimmage experience and maybe a few bouts under your belt.

Advanced:  You have been skating for years, are proficient in most advanced skating roller derby skills such as crossovers, backwards skating, transitions, blocking, jamming and executing strategy.  You have at least one season of bouting under your belt and can understand advanced roller derby strategy.

Class Descriptions:

Beginning: classes to be held will include basic skating skills such as:

Stops, form, and falls with an intro to stride
Advanced stride and riding the track
Starts
Fast recovery from falls
Intro to pack work
Intro to transitions, backwards skating and kick rail spins

Intermediate: classes will focus on derby skills used in game play such as:

Pack work: skating in a pack, maneuvering through the pack and changing position safely
Jamming and jammer agility
Blocking technique and strategy

Advanced: classes will focus on:

Advanced jammer skills and strategy
Advanced blocking
Hitting technique and styles
Intermediate to Advanced banked track roller derby strategy

Skaters who do not participate in advanced classes are welcome to observe.

Please Note:  These levels are to give you an idea of what clinics to take.  You may find that you are beginner in one class and intermediate in another or intermediate in one and advanced in another.  However, we do not recommend you jump more than one level.  It would be unusual for you to have beginner skills and be able to manage an advanced clinic.

Saturday will finish with a free skate open to all campers where you will also be able to mingle with some of the Tilted Thunder league skaters.

The camp will wrap up on Sunday with a full contact black and white scrimmage open to campers, coaches and some Tilted Thunder Rail Birds.
