| Description |
Slow Food Russian River will hold it's second annual Harvest Dinner at the Santa Rosa Junior College's Shone Farms facility in Western Sonoma County to support the 4-H Heritage Breeds project.
The event will be at the new Warren Dutton Pavilion and will feature a 4-course meal showcasing local heritage foods listed on Slow Food's Ark of Taste. These are culturally significant and flavorful foods that, because of lack of use or distribution, have become threatened with extinction.
A live-auction of heritage turkeys and a silent-auction of travel and wine packages will complement the affair.
This is the second year that the Slow Food Russian River chapter has helped local 4-H families raise the birds that had been an integral part of Thanksgiving dinners for generations. The heritage birds to be served include the Narragansett, the Bourbon Red, and the Standard Bronze Turkeys.
The Menu, prepared by Chef Greg Markey and long time Sonoma County chef and caterer Michael Hirschberg (formerly of Restaurant Matisse and Mistral) will include items highlighted on the Slow Food Ark list, including Heritage Turkeys, Wild Rice, Pecans, Heirloom Fruits and Vegetables, all paired with premium Napa and Sonoma wines. An artesian cheese and wine reception will precede the dinner.
Please note - a small service fee will be added to your ticket price. |
