12/3 Sat 8:30 COMMANDER CODY Band; also PROFESSOR LOUIS & THE CROWMATIX $30 +$2

The COMMANDER CODY Band arrived in San Francisco in 1969, just in time to catch the tale end of the summer of love with the Commander himself on the piano, playing a variety of songs that are still in their repertoire, including SMOKE, SMOKE, SMOKE THAT CIGARETTE. Before long, their twangy HOT ROD LINCOLN became a runaway hit, reaching the top ten in 1972. A few more tunes breached the top 40 as they hit the concert trail -- playing the legendary Fillmore Auditorium, finding themselves on bills with the Grateful Dead, The Doors, The Jefferson Airplane, Alice Cooper, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles and even backing up John Lennon. Their "Live From Deep in the Heart of Texas" was named as one of Rolling Stones 100 Greatest of all times! It promises to be a great evening, as always, with the Commander himself leading the musical mayhem & controlled chaos, sporting his legendary antics and ability to spark up even the toughest crowds with favorites like "Smoke" and "Hot Rod Lincoln."

PROFESSOR LOUIE & THE CROWMATIX

Professor "Louie" & The Crowmatix perform a tasty mix of rhythm & blues and rock'n'roll, including songs from The Band as well as their own songs. Tagged "Professor Louie" by Rick Danko of The Band during the time they performed together as a duo, Aaron Hurwitz co-produced the last three Band albums --Jericho; High On The Hog; and Jubilation-- and has produced many others since. "Professor Louie's upstate ensemble is an old school Americana template that jams out timeless rock, country, blues and New Orleans influenced originals." -The Village Voice; "This is a group of incredibly talented musicians. Best described as a party of musical mixology." -Blues Bite Review; "...a tasty mix of rhythm and blues, and rock & roll. This is a great band." -Record Review; "...stellar players -- full of energy and sheer exuberance. -Relix; "...A roots rock extravaganza." -The Advocate
