11/18 Fri 8:30 PETER TORK (of THE MONKEES); guest All Wood & Doors $25 +$2 proc.
Long before Peter Tork became known as the dimpled & naive member of the legendary '60s group, The Monkees, Peter was a well-respected musician/artist in the burgeoning New York folk scene. Tork's gift for playing a plethora of instruments generated high demand for his services as a sideman/back-up artist. Peter knocked around for several hungry years in the mid-'60s, 'hanging' and performing with the likes of John Phillips, Stephen Stills and Dave Van Ronk. The fateful call, which would change Tork's life forever, came in June of 1965... Friend and confidant Stephen Stills, not quite hitting the mark with his own audition for The Monkees TV series, rang his buddy Peter, urging him to give it a go. Music legend Jimi Hendrix jammed with Peter on several occasions, calling him "The most talented Monkee."
Peter will be joined by James Lee Stanley.

Can you imagine what The Doors' songs would have sounded like if they had been created with acoustic guitars? Would Light My Fire, Riders On the Storm or Touch Me have been as powerful if played "unplugged" and ladened with soulful vocals & joyous harmonies? Curious? So were James Lee Stanley and Cliff Eberhardt, purveyors of acoustic rock music for decades. They took 12 Doors classics and turned them into something totally unthought of: All Wood & Doors.
All Wood & Doors takes a more intimate, acoustic look at classic Doors' songs in a way that has never been done before -- an angle so different that you'd better prepare yourself for a big surprise ...a positively shocking one. All Wood & Doors takes you on a trip. It acts like a space & time machine: in a single moment you will find yourself hearing these Doors songs from a different world -- familiar and completely brand new.
The album All Wood & Doors features appearances by Peter Tork (Monkees), Timothy B Schmit (Eagles), Laurence Juber (Paul McCartney & Wings), Paul Barrere (Little Feat), Scott Breadman (Rippingtons, Lindsay Buckingham), Chad Watson (David Arkenstone, Janis Ian) and very special guests John Densmore and Robby Krieger (Doors).
"James Lee Stanley and Cliff Eberhardt are excellent pickers and what they did to our songs is unique and refreshing. It was a pleasure to be part of the project." -John Densmore, The Doors
